Shared Goal
Who we are
We support and empower Nova Scotians; to foster resiliency in individuals, businesses and communities to build a stronger province. It is our mission to ensure that all persons are supported in achieving their full potential through personal growth, skills development, and employment.
What we do
Our goal is to provide quality and efficient employment related services. Whether you are a new graduate entering the workforce for the first time, a seasoned worker re-entering the workforce, or an individual who requires training to meet the demands of the industry, we are here to help you!
“Continuous check-ins and correspondence from the Employer Engagement Specialist (Derek Theriault) and my Case Manager really helped me with training, finding work, and just providing support, guidance, and resources.”
“As a small business owner working in the position of the Executive Chef for a 16 room, 4 star boutique hotel and fine dining restaurant located in Ingonish, Nova Scotia Works has been a key to our success. As a former resident of New York City, the staffing issues in a remote location have been the biggest challenge to date. Nova Scotia Works has offered our business and our applicants a platform to connect to the excellent programs offered. This, along with the guidance of the highly skilled staff of Nova Scotia Works, have made it possible for our small business to succeed.”
“I met the NS Works Employer Engagement Specialist Derek Theriault in late 2019. He discussed the START program with me and how the NS Works Northside Employment Centre could help me with my employment needs. In 2020, work was getting busy and I would need a labourer to help me on the truck. I contacted the NS Works Centre and they referred someone to me who was taking part in a re-entry program. The referral worked out and the young guy proved to be an excellent worker. After his work placement ended with the re-entry program, I applied for the START program to hire him and give him more duties and responsibilities. He is still with me and enjoying the work. He may even consider working towards his class 3 license so he will be able to drive the fuel truck. The whole experience working with the NS Works Northside Employment Centre has been excellent for both myself and my employee.”
